Subject: Another Ambo on the Road
Last night we finished assembly & started up my buddy's Ambo/sidecar
rig. You all might remember me mentioning my buddy being called up for
reserve duty in Kuwait, and before leaving I told him I would get his
rig back together. When he left, the engine was rebuilt & sitting on the
garage floor next to the bike. A simple task it would seem, but his bike
was filthy, covered with about 20 years worth of leaking engine &
gearbox oil, along with a frame that was scratched up & rusty from
numerous hap-hazard engine removals/installations. Needless to say, it
took quite some to get the bike ready for the fresh powerplant - one day
I spent over 2 hours with engine cleaner & eventually gasoline trying to
break loose the filth from the rear wheel alone! But last night made it
all worthwhile when we turned the key & she lit off. Spent about 5
minutes playing around with the carb adjustment screws & she settled
down to a nice 900 rpm idle.
So now, finally, I'm free to start on my own Loopframe! You listening
Corntown? No Nancyboy "Popcycles" here Bud! We're talkin' pure
testosterone-driven Road Bike! See you at Mid-Ohio...in my mirror, that
is!!!
