Dale,
Think we met once...at least your name is familiar. Sidecar comes to mind
too? Welcome to the list.
As to your problem....I had a similar thing occur on my White Eldo. Since it
ran strong previously I felt the problem lie in a clogged jet. Sure
enough...pulled the jets to find the main jet on the left cylinder clogged
with crap. Blew it out and the bike is running strong now.
Check the simple things first....like timing, valve tappet clearances and
clean carbs.
Regards...Ian

The bike runs perfectly to 3/4 throttle but past that it loses power, fouls the plugs, and will not clear out unless you reduce throttle. The only improvement is to remove the air intake boot and run open carburators. This does not cure the problem entirely but reduces it conciderably, allowing you to pull through it,where the bike runs fine at full throttle.I suspect worn carburetors as I have checked, substituted or replaced nearly everything else on the engine.Has anyone else had this problem? I run a k&n replacement air filter in the stock air box so I don't think there is much restriction there.Any suggestions will be appreciated. thanks Dale |
