Hi Dale,
I've been having the same problem with my '69 Ambo for quite some time.
I've tried everything that has been suggested, without success. I've
gone up and down several sizes of main jets, moved needles up and down
and tried new ones both stock and different number, checked the advance
and replaced the springs, tried different float levels, different fuel
filters and taps, different air filters - still there. It got better
when I did the top-end rebuild though - not as noticeable now. I plan on
changing the floats for some new ones I have and then swap slides next
if that has no effect. Worst case, I'll swap carbs - guess I could try
the old SS1s or Amals I have! :-) Cheers,

Hello everyone,I'm Dale Goodine from Belleville Ontario.I own a 71 Ambo with a 73 850 motor.I have ridden this bike for several years but have never been able to solve a full throttle bog problem. The bike runs perfectly to 3/4 throttle but past that it loses power, fouls the plugs, and will not clear out unless you reduce throttle. The only improvement is to remove the air intake boot and run open carburators. This does not cure the problem entirely but reduces it conciderably, allowing you to pull through it,where the bike runs fine at full throttle.I suspect worn carburetors as I have checked, substituted or replaced nearly everything else on the engine.Has anyone else had this problem? I run a k&n replacement air filter in the stock air box so I don't think there is much restriction there.Any suggestions will be appreciated. thanks Dale |
