I remember reading about this perfectly mint 70's BMW,
where the owner sprayed the entire bike (except for
the painted bits, which were waxed hard) with
WD40...everything...then removed with a wash in the
spring...it makes sense to me...and the bike looked
showroom with over 100k on it...

Anybody got any good tips on proper steps for winter
biek storage. I've
got an unheated garage and it pains me to think
about what the
frost/thaw cycle does to my bikes. Here are some
steps that I take but
I'm always looking for more protection:
-wash
-remove batteries and put them on a trickle charger
in my basement
-fill up fuel tanks and add some fuel stabilizer
-fogging oil in the cylinders
-cover

I hear that some people treat the chrome/unpainted
metal. What works
best for this? Do you wax them? Anything else to
add to storage steps?

I've got something called a "Car Capsule" for my '65
Mustang that is
basically a huge ziplock bag that has a fan that
constantly runs to keep
it inflated and runs air through it to prevent any
frost from ever
forming on the car. It seems to work pretty well
and because I have
secured heated storage for my Mustang this winter I
am thinking about
using it for my bikes.
