It's amazing what you can learn on this list: Re5, Subaru midget cars,
etc.

I was considering trading my V7-Special for a local '75 Re5.

The Ambo is completely reliable, easy to wrench, and handles well. I've
used it as a daily commuter into DC, so I know it and trust it.

The Suzuki is weird, unique, has triple discs, and probably would
produce headaches if it broke down. I've heard bad things about
handling (650 lbs on a water-buffalo suspension) and nightmares if
overheats or if not properly lubricated. Also terrible gas mileage,
replace that spark plug about every 2k miles, and don't rev past 6500
(although it can smoothly go to 12,000 but heat will destroy the seals
and rotor tips).

Maybe the Re5 is a better collector bike in the long run, but only
because it's unique.

The V7-Ambo-Eldo's deserve to be collected because they're great bikes.

So no Trade for the Re5. Maybe I need to look for a nice T-3 or Lemans
IV.

Don't have any input about the Eldo/Ambo thread...but am very familiar
with the RE5 Suzuki. Good friend back in high school bought a new one
back in 1975....and I worked as a Suzuki mechanic for several years back
then. Can probably help...although machine, especially carbureator is a
bit of a nightmare. Spark plug (1 required) used to cost about $6.00
each!! Brett
