A friend had his '52 Triumph front shoes re-lined and arc'd in the
Baltimore area for a very good price. I'm thinking of going up there
(I'm in the DC metro area) to have the front shoes on my Eldo done by them.

Also found this web page for clutch and brake rebuilders who list by
state;http://www.reman.com/brakfram.htm

Regarding your Goose brakes needing relining, the company in Baltimore I used
and recommend is "Friction Materials, Inc.", phone numbers, 410 780-3720, 410
780-3721, and 800 543-4223. They were moving last week from East Baltimore to
a new location at 510 Orems Road in Essex, MD, a northeastern suburb of
Baltimore. The manager is a nice guy named Richard Shannon; the woman who answers
the phone is Gloria, and she struck me as pretty knowledgable about brake and
clutch linings. Apparently relining both clutches and brakes are their main
business. Feel free to use my name ("the guy who brought in the old Triumph front
brake").

I took them my front brake backing plate with shoes attached and the front
wheel complete with tire. They removed the brake shoes, stripped the old riveted
linings, bonded on new linings, and 'radiused' the shoes to be concentric
with the drum. The total price was $25.20 including sales tax. I dropped off the
brake on a Thursday morning, and they called me early the next day saying the
job was done. Can't beat that for service!

They told me they have a number of different lining materials they can bond
on brake shoes depending on what the customer wants. I've put the front wheel
back on but haven't ridden the bike yet to see how well it grips, but just
pushing it around the garage it sure feels a lot more 'grippy' than it did.
