If memory serves correct. Max thickness of the pads is 4.5mm and min is
2.5mm.
I am in the process of trying to sort out how I will deal with the pads in
the 4LS Eldo. I ordered new pads and they won't fit into the drum....looks
like I will have to shave off a couple of mm just to fit them in. Doesn't
sound right. Anyone else have this problem?
As far as reinstalling the pads...I hook the springs into the pads first and
then press them onto the plate.

Removed the wheel, shoes, lubed the splined pivot points, lubed the brake shoe pivot points, reassembled and put back on the bike. Putting those brake shoe springs back on was a Royal PITA. When adjusting the brake cable (2 years old), I have almost run out of adjusting bolt at the front wheel. When the shoes were new, they barely fit inside the drum - hardly used the adjusting bolt at all. There doesn't seem to be any way to adjust the shoes travel like you can on an auto. Is there a minimum shoe thickness ? Bruce '72 Eldo |
