I have used high temp paint in the past and it holds up really well and
like John said, can easily be touched up. I have pictures of 2 motors I
have done this way if you want to see them.

A couple of friends whith HD's have powder coated cylinders, they
seem to be fine, although I've always heard that the heat retention
properties of powder coating on cylinders isn't desirable on air cooled
engines. I've never heard of any actual damage done as a result of
powder coated cylinders, although I wouldn't be in a position to see it
(I'm not a real mechanic or anything). The actual powder coating process
shouldn't hurt the cylinders, they probably get hotter in actual use.
I'd consider a high temp paint, you can easily touch it up from time
to time with a rattle can.

The Cliff's notes answer to your question is:The question keeps coming up about doing cylinders and cylinder heads.
I have seen it done, but I would never do it to one of my own. I would
STRONGLY advise NOT to coat these. You want to dissipate heat, not
retain heat by putting an insulator over it! . Powder coating can be a
great thermal and electrical insulator. If you must have it coated,
use a thin film of wet paint.
John PrusnekHi,
Has anyone had their cylinders powder coated with success? Are the temps
within reason for longevity and no damage to bore? I have a set of
Gilardoni nikisil's (sp?) that I would like to see in black. Any advice
is appreciated.
Thanks
