Hi Lenny,
You'll have to reattach the transmission temporarily to mount the
starter. Hook the positive jumper cable to the positive cable lug on the
solenoid, hook the negative to a good ground for the starter (mounting
bolt?) and then hook one wire of your remote starter button to the
positive lug of the solenoid and the other wire to the spade terminal
that the starter relay/button connects to. If you have one of the
Marelli solenoids with the extra ground terminal, you'll need to ground
it somehow also. Should work this way. You might want to recruit someone
to hold the engine/trans assy. to keep it from moving around too much
while cranking. Cheers,

Listers, Can this be done? Carbs are already off as well as starter and transmission. Clutch and flywheel are attached. Can I bolt the starter back on and put 12V power to crank and test? If so What is the best, easiest way to hook up battery power? I have one of those remote starter buttons for starting/crankning car engines while working on them. Can this be used? Although I did have the engine running and there was not noticeable blue smoke coming from the exhaust before I dismantled my Ambo, I'd like to check the compression before putting the engine back in the frame.
