there is a diy kit - don't know if they have one big enough for a tank though...i've heard the nickel plate kit is great for small stuff...most of the vintage jap bike guys have done pretty impressive work with these..

I'm pretty sure chroming is expensive. Thaty's why I'm trying to find one that isn't too expensive and does good work.
A while back soemone mentioned that there was some powder coating that simulated chrome. Is that expensive too? Anyone try it?
Any DIY chrome kits available? (doubtful)
Thanks.

To all, Chroming is expensive and a repaint and decals will also be necessary. For those of us who love our bikes (like Rich) but don't want to put museum money into them, what alternatives exist? I know some have painted the "chromed" area and outlined with striping, but I like the shiny stuff. Has anyone tried a chrome or alumnium veneer? This might also cover dings. What about chromium paint? Thanks CS in TN

I'm thinking of getting my tank rechromed and repainted and I'm hoping someone in NY/NJ can recommend an outfit to do it.
