| Here's a hint Keith. If you want bids you needed to start opening bid at $1,000. You can put your reserve at anything you want but you need to start the bidding frenzy and it just isn't going to happen with an opening bid of $6,000. If you have watched Ebay for any length of time you would understand how this works. Some guy says 'Oh Yea!' I'd give em $1,500 for it, then some guy says hey its worth $2,000 and by the time it's done your retired on an island in the Caribbean. Well maybe not but you get the point. I think you should just do like I did, owning somewhat finicky bikes like a Loop and a Ducati, is to keep the Loop and buy a H@nda or BMW or something else so that when it's patience's time of month you always have something to ride. Just my unbiased opinion worth the magnetic bits it's written on ;-).

I hear ya, I've been vomiting on this board for 3 years now, y'all have been putting up with me. I'm on the fence with selling her, which is why I priced her high on ebay. I've gotten 727 hits as of this morning with 0 bids. Not sure why some bikes get bidding frenzies, i.e., Moe's bikes where people run up the bids into the low teens, and why mine has gotten none (it's not as nice cosmetically as those total restored paint
jobs Moe does but is clean and original, but just as nice mechanically).
Still a few days left though. I am planning on taking a ride up to see Eric Green, The Guzzi Guy up in Staten Island to see if she is running her best, I think she still may need some carb tweeking or timing adjustment. If he gets her running like a bandit, hmmmmm, I may just have to keep her! Been offered a few trades from Beemer owners, a real nice 78 Smoke Red R100RS + $2000 for my bike, an 80 Smoke Red R100RT with 15K original miles on it + $2500 for my bike, or possibly a 90 K100LT all done up for close to equal swap for my bike. Makes me really
think if this is a prime opportunity to get back what I have invested (around $6K) into this bike, get a nice Beemer, plus cash back in my pocket. The Beemers are also unique machines, not too many around these
parts, but the Guzzi is super rare. Decisions, decisions. Will keep you posted.

| Keith, Ian's story is familiar to me. I whined and complained on this list (I'm sure everyone remembers painfully) for almost two years about my Ambo, couldn't get her going no matter what. Now she runs like a new....... well almost new bike. Real glad I stuck to her. | Keith,
You have definately had to put up with a lot of pain and suffering on Patience. I have had the good fortune to have had few problems with my |
bikes
| so I can't be in your shoes. However please allow me to pass on a story |
that
| my dad once told me:
He owned a late 50's Olds way back when. There was a period of time when |
all
| he seemed to be doing was getting things fixed on it. This went on for |
quite
| awhile and he was at his breaking point. Just as he was ready to be done with the "money pit" and sell it off he then went into a long period where all the car would do is run. I think I remember him saying that he ran the car for over two years with no problems whatsoever.
Perhaps you are at that point? You have done just about everything |
possible
| to that bike. I am surprised it is not as reliable as many of the Looper's bikes.
Good luck with the sale...she is a beautiful bike.
...Ian
p.s. I am not jinxing myself with the above statements. But just to be |
sure
| I wrote this email with fingers...and toes crossed :-)

Though I like to see people on loops, sometimes it's just time to move on...good luck whatever you do...

| Oh the mental torchure. Took her to work the other day and once |
again
| | | | she owned up to her name as the speedo crapped out again. So it |
turned
| | | out to only be the speedo cable again (was just replaced not many |
miles
| | | ago). Yes it was minor, but enough to put me over the final edge |
and
| | | | throw her on ebay. Yes she is priced high, but if someone is |
willing
| to
| | | pay, she's all theres (especially when compared to the prices people |
pay
| | | for Harpers and Cycle Garden machines!). I think I have been jinxed with this Ambo, perhaps someone else will have luck now that I have spent my mental lentils and too much dinero getting her to where she |
is
| | | at. Of course the cash in pocket doesn't hurt to pay off that huge |
Visa
| | | bill that she created. Have also had a few intersted parties offer |
me
| | | | up some real fine Beemers + cash for Patience, now there's a hoot. Still in the saddle with a sweet R100RS or R100RT or K100LT plus a |
few
| | | | grand to play with. One guy offered me $6K in a trade - his 80 |
R100RT
| | | | with 15K original miles + $3K. We'll see. I figured I would list |
her
| | | | at what I've got into her and see if the price runs up like some of those cycle garden bikes we've seen sell for $12K plus, though I'm |
not
| | | | at all expecting that but why not just list it and see. May wind up keeping her after all this is said and done, but I do have a "sour" taste now, I'm at the point where I expect something to go wrong or break every time I'm out on her, not the confidence I want to have |
in
| a
| | | courtship with my motorcycle. I think it's time to move on.....
