I have a '73 Laverda SF1 with exactly the same petcocks as the Guzzi, except that they work in the opposite direction (as does the brake and shift pattern). If I leave the petcock open, enough gas will seep into the cylinder to lock up the engine when I go to start it. Really had me scratching my head on that one...
