Barry,
My experience with the "wobble" has lead me to believe that the wobble is
primarily caused by a loose swing arm. Of course there are other factors to
consider like the steering head bearings, tire pressure, loose shock mounts
etc but any wobble I have experience (on a few bikes now) has been cured by
fixing a loose swing arm.
As for the wheel base, I don't know of a modified version of the police bike
having a longer wheel base....maybe Greg Field would have a better idea.
From the manual V700 had a 56.9" wheelbase, the 750 had a 57.8" and the 850 |
includes the word "about" in those dimensions :-)
Hope this helps...Ian

I'm considering buying a 1970, ex LAPD Ambo 750, and I'm told it has a longer wheelbase than most, thanks to its non standard triple tree/fork angle, which gives more rake to the forks, and makes it more suited to hauling the sidecar it's attached to. My question: what's the standand wheelbase of this model, and can anyone confirm that this triple tree/long wheelbase was infact an option. I read with interest some posts to this list re speed wobbles, how common a problem is it? I have heard that the early /5 BMW's from the seventies had wobble woes, so they brought out a the long frame version. Did Guzzi do the same with the " Loopys "? Thanks alot, Barry Swanson, New Zealand. ==^================================================================ This email was sent to: ianad-@linkamerica.net EASY UNSUBSCRIBE click here:http://topica.com/help/unsub.html.aWFuYWRr Or send an email to: Loopframe_Guzz-@topica.com TOPICA - Start your own email discussion group.
