Hi, all. I have long said that the worst part of my
Ambo is the front brake. The time has finally come to
replace the shoes, and I would like to see some
noticeable braking performance if possible. I see the
Moto International sells Ferrodo Green linings that
they say are really good and only cost $14.95, but
they have to be bonded to my old shoes. MG Cycle has
new shoes at a good price - $48.25 - but I don't know
how much of an improvement they would be over what I
currently have (which I assume is stock, but don't
know for sure). Anyone have any advice?

Stock linings are kind of a bronze or gold color, the softer linings from MGC
are black and a bit oversized over stock arc diameter. I filed mine down
with a wood rasp to make the arc of the shoes and drum match. Much better
performance.
There was also a good "how-to" email posted here some time ago how to adjust
both shoes to engage at same time. I did it my own way so I am not too sure
if I am at optimum or not. Will try that approach some day. I still run the
stock shoe on the back. It has enough to skid the rear tire if I adjust the
lever position correctly.
