The cover for the shifter return spring on the back of my 4 speed is
still leaking. I took it off a few weeks back (had to remove the
battery and battery tray to get access to the bolts) and found out there
was no gasket, only goop around the cover, so I ordered a gasket. Got
the gasket and was worried as it was super thin. I cleaned the surfaces
real well and was hoping the gasket would work but thought it was way
too thin to do anything. Low and behold, it still leaks. Was wondering
what you all thought about making the leak stop? Should I use some goop
in addition to the paper thin gasket? Or perhaps, is there some sort of
cork or rubber material that I could buy and make my own gasket by
tracing out the one I have?
