Disc or drum, no matter how tight you get the axle nut, it shouldn't
matter to the bearings, because you're only bearing on the inner races
and center spacer. If when you tighten the axle nut the wheel becomes
hard to spin, there is some other problem, like poorly shimmed tapered
roller bearings. The disc wheels have sealed ball bearings and should
be affected even less.
