Hi Chris,
I used Honda #60 (I think) grease on the wheel-to-drive splines. Even used lightly, it found it's way off and made enough mess on the wheel to make me think the drive was leaking. Guzziology seems to recommend "Bel-Ray Assembly Lube" from what I can tell from preliminary ready.
When I saw the subject line, it never occurred to me you meant PAINT strippers! Thought there was some tie in with the grease. Such as, you met up with some college girls that pay their way by stripping and they helped do some wrenching and got greasy. Damn! Oh, well. Anyway, I use NAPA's store brand automotive stripper mostly since they're close. But it does work excellent, is especially stinky and leaves residue you're not exactly sure how to dispose of. "Do I label this as hazardous waste and leave it at a Superfund site?" Cheers,
Charlie

I have two silly questions, but given that the list is slow today I thought I'd ask them. First, the owner of the bmw in my garage is getting some BMW Spline grease this weekend to put his drive shaft back together (funny how close the R100 rear drive looks like the loop). Ironically, this weekend is when I hoped to put my drive shaft in and rear wheel and drive on. Has any every used this stuff? Should I use something else? Second, does anyone have a paint stripper they recommend? Thanks fellas, Chris _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: advanced junk mail protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail |
