My has 30K on it also. I believe the flaking is due to long periods of
sitting and condensation/rust works it's merry way while the bike is
idle. My had sat for 10 years which told me right away that I'd more
than likely be looking at a cylinders/pistons. A fact of life for any
loop that has not had a steady life of riding.
When shopping, figure if there is rust on the outside the inside will
have a little also.
An interesting finding, Both lifter/follower faces on one cylinder were
pitted and the other side are perfect. The cam is unblemished.
Let's see, were the blemished ones the ones with pressure on them
againest the cam lobes or were they between strokes will little pressure
that let moisture hit em?
