David,
Anything like this I would be extremely wary. However...if the guy sends a
cashier's check for the bike and you actually can clear and deposit the
money into your account then I would think that the deal has been made. Many
of these scams are designed to trick you into sending money before you
actually get anything.
The big trick is to get the "hard currency" into your hands and then deal.
I remember once a company I use to work for sold a bunch of planes to China.
Of course once the planes were delivered getting the money from them was
like pulling teeth. After that any business done inside that country was 90%
cash up front.
Get the money first then ship the bike.
Good luck...Ian

I have listed a MG for sale for a friend of mine, and he has had at least two different people agree to purchase it sight unseen. They are both from foreign countries, supposedly collectors of older Guzzis, and seem to have people here that will ship the bike for them. One is offering a bit more than the asking price, the other agreed to have a cashiers check delivered to the owner, that is well above the asking price due to money owed to the buyer by "client" here in the states, if the seller agrees to send the difference back to him. This sounds incredibly fishy to me, but maybe there are collectors who deal like this? Don't want the guy to miss out on a sale, but seems pretty strange to me. Anybody ever seen this? The e-mail messages are in broken English, so I may be losing a bit there, but not much.
