The Harley HD-12 battery is very close as is the Y-60 series Yuasa . The
Harley battery will need a little work due to the terminal location but
it is a good choice . IF you MUST use a garden tractor battery ,keep
looking until you find one that allows for a vent hose . There are a few
now available with a small rectangular vent outlet a either or both ends
. You can slip a round vynil hose over them and direct the corrosive
gasses away . There have been a lot of seat pans and other parts
destroyed by direct vent lawnmower batteries.

Well, my quest for a sealed or gel motorcycle battery that'll fit under the stock mounting bracket seems for naught. I need a battery that's 9 1/2" L x 5 1/2" W x 6 3/4-7 1/4" H, and all the Hawker and Panansonic gel batteries are way smaller. So I guess it's off to the battery store, battery cap in hand. Anyone have a better choice? 73 Eldo (T-minus) 78 T3/949 |
