I have 13" Marzocchis on my Eldo/SP, purchased at a very fair price from
MG Cycle. I had 12.5" Konis on my previous loop. These Marzocchis ride
very similar to the Konis, firm, tight, controlled. No wallow even with
passenger and luggage. I am 6'4" and 230. The switch to the 13" rear
shocks and the longer cartridge/damper in the disk front provides for
more ground clearance. No complaints about the ride.
I have seen the Aussie-made Koni replacements for sale in more places
lately. Bob's BMW was the latest to jump on the "IKON" bandwagon with a
big magazine ad. Price is the same as the old Konis, close to 3 bills
for a set. (MG cycle is cheeeeeeeper)
Thanks to Jason for posting the pix of floorboards, very educational.
Thanks to Stephan Brenton for making the SOB and making my life easier.
I run pegs with a toe shifter only. The SOB not only makes the shift
one down and four up like my Jackal but has an unadvertised benefit.
You can put the shifter exactly where you want it in relation to the
peg. I wear a size 14 E boot and the last thing I want is to miss a
shift or kick it out of gear with my steel toed clodhopper. Kudos to
Mr. B.
Thumbs up also to Chris (Frosty) Mitchell for riding his (1971?)Triumph
to our basement wrenching session on Sunday. Certain fair weather
bikers on the block took note. It didn't leak oil on my garage floor
either.
