First of all, most old tractor engines are in line 4 or 6 cylinder designs. I have a 1946 Ford 2N tractor. It is a 4 cylinder design. The old John Deere? 1 or 2 cylinder in line horizontal more like a falcone. I'm not an expert by any means, but I don't know of any V-twin tractor engine designs. Secondly, why not enjoy the myth.
