A cotter pin was contemplated but I found a .5" circlip for $.14 that is
a good, tight fit. Kinda hard to find metric circlips at your local
hardware store....

I lost the circlip that holds the rear brake lever from sliding out
it's holes on my '72 Eldo (had to bungee cord the lever to stay in
place). I believe that the circlip that was on it was of standard
dimensions for it was always a bit loose. I measured the OD of the
circlip groove to be 13.4 mm. Should I use a 13 mm circlip as a
replacement? Or is this a special circlip?
Bruce-
This isn't the answer you were looking for but, IMHO, remove the rod,
drill it for a small cotter pin and never worry about it again.
