Ugh, that thing was a problem for me on my Eldo/SP. The ones I had did not have the nub and that was a bad thing. The bolt that secures the bottom of the damper must be properly torqued with a fresh crush washer or bloooop, out comes your fork oil. The nub is on the outside of this part, two teeth are on the inside. Together they hold the damper rod still so you can torque it.
