 Well, I got engine

should
it be to screw them in? The one I tried was real difficult, almost felt
crossthreaded, but I backed it out and the threads were clean. any
tricks
to screwing them in?

Ray-
I think the long end goes into the case, I have pictures that I can
check to make sure. I made a simple tool that clamps around the smooth
portion of the stud to assist in threading the studs in; I prefer it to
the other 2 options, vice-grips or double-nutting. Send me your address
(offline) and I'll loan you the tool. There should be a tight fit of
the threads into the case; you want them to stay put. I used red
loctite when re-assembling my studs. Make sure both case and stud
threads are clean as already described in another reply.
