Slowly but surely - the bike she is coming together. I have a couple of bearing related questions. First, can anyone tell me what size carrier bearing I need to put in the swing arm |
Size is 28 x 58 x 16.
and where to get it |
I bought mine from Dixie Brgs in Charleston, $15. Look in Yellow pages
under bearings.
(and the big old snapring that holds it in)? |
Someone who has old parts, Mark/Josh at MotoGuzzi Classics.
Second, what is the proper distance between steering head bearings on the stem? |
Till they seat and show some slight resistance.
Third, should the steering head bearing races sit flush with the top (or bottom) of the steering head tube? Bases on a lip that I feel just past the race, I think it should be pressed in further. |
Outer races should be pressed in until they bottom out on the lip.
Don't put force on the tapered walls to push the bearings in place. Put
the force on the flat at the top of the race.
