The needle is "underdamped" . It happens in time. Someget dry,corrode
and stick others get dry and very free on the jeweled pivots.
Proper cleaning and relubrication is the only cure.
You can do the PO thing and pry it apart yourself ,but odds are it will
end up like so many other PO repairs . There is an EXCELLENT speedo shop
in Farmington Michigan. I prefer his work to the vaulted West Coast
operations. Let me know if you need his number.
