I've heard from two sources that they screwed up the v700 intakes in the head by making them too big. True? False? who knows.. the notched sleeves might have been a fix to narrow it to flow air faster. They definitly were fitted to the original SS1 carbs. After much fiddling about trying to make vhb 29 carbs work (needed different manifolds specific to vhb...runs a different angle off the head) without the sleeves (i thought they were for just the ss1's) I tried the sleeves back in. Worked beautifully...first start purred like a kitten. the sleeve fits between the two carb gaskets. Now, I don't know how this all relates to a 750... |
Yup! That seems to be the case here. the intakes on my
(non-sleeved) '70 ambo are 25 mm. The intakes on the
'68 ambo are 32mm. Interestingly enough, the intake valves
on the '70 ambo are MUCH larger than those on the '68 one.
thanks,
