The header does go in a long ways in order to get the mount hole to line
up on the passenger peg mount. But that lines up the exit of the tail
right with the fender. My new frame has the center stand bumper on it
and I would think it would still clear. But I wouldn't know since I cut
the ears off my stand. If you gently raise the c stand and it is real
close to the bumper (say 1/2" or so) you might try sticking the stand in
a vise and using a bit of heat and cheater bar to bent the ears out a
bit. I don't have any troubles getting to the stand without the ears,
you just have to know where to reach with the toe to hook it down. I
doit every night when I put it in the garage. I rock the bike off the
stand when I am standing next to the bike, so I can flip up the stand.
Or a good bounce of my butt on the seat will kick it up enough for the
spring to pull it up.
Bear in mind with all this reaching and moving I am 6'5" with big ol
feet so doing the reaching and maneuverin on and off the stand is a bit
easier for me.

They definatly LOOK like the right mufflers. The right side would bolt
right up with no problems, except it seems as though the header pipe
fits inside too far. Is that the solution(?) To cut that ear off? I have
no problems with modifications to make these work, esp; with a bolt on
part like the centerstand as long as I can still get to it.

that is totally weird. I have none of those problems wit my mac fish. In
fact I had cut the one remaining ear off only to realise later that the
frame I was using then did not have the centerstand bumper bracket.
something is odd here.

and couldn't find the info I was looking for so here goes... Of coarse the mufflers are too far forward when mounted in the stock position. I decided to make a bracket instead of cutting the header which I guess some of you did with the MAC's. The bracket also solved the shifter clearance problem. It seems odd the way my brackets are setup. They come down and back at about an inch and a half then about a 30 degree angle. I'm wondering if anyone else had tried this and if they found that the mufflers slowly drop. I don't see a way to hand to mufflers directly up vertically. 2) What about the centerstand? Remove it? or someone suggested beating/bending the leg, ear, tab(whatever)you step on to lower it and center the bike forward untill it clears the muffler. It's about an inch and a half short from resting on the grommet on the frame. Any suggestion would be G-R-E-A-T!!!! Kev |
