As for locktite...it depends on how far you are into the beast.
I peened AND loctited the plug in the crankshaft slinger. Suspender and
belt kinda thinking.
Other than that I didn't use loctite anywhere else that I recall.
Some clear RTV on the two bottom bolts on the main bearing carrier.
Since the block was open I went ahead and goobed em up good til ther RTV
squished out ino the case. Then I cleaned off the excess. Since most of
the internal bolts and stuff use folding tabs, I didn't see a need for
loctite.

Assembly lube? Yes, please. Everywhere. Anytime two moving metal bits
were assembled in contact with eachother, they got a slathering of oil.
I used sturmy-archer. But I imagine any good thick oil will work. You
can even buy assembly lube. But that seems about the same as the 20-50 I
put in the bike. I also liked to pour in a bit of engine oil in all the
oil lines when I could. I had flushed everything with brake cleaner.
Again, more suspender and belt thinking. Also I like to lube up the
seals before seating them.

About the only place I avoided the lube was near the clutch and careful
cleaning of any excess in the bell housing area. A contaminated clutch
sucks.

The gasgacinch is the mutts nutts. I used it on the intake gaskets. No
air leaks. Lovely.

 Hmm that's an interesting idea.
How loose was loose?

didn't talk specifics, but considering the clearances
I would think that it wouldn't have to be too loose.

oh, and seeing as you've just finished putting yours
back together, what's the general advice on assembly
lube -- where to use it, where not? same for
loctite/antisieze
