Cam,
You've gotta watch it on some of the Guzzi models because the fill level
plug was in the wrong spot. This results in the rear end oil level being
too low. Personally, I measure. Recently I had a problem with my G-5
spitting out oil after the first oil change that I performed on it. I
used the remains of a four-quart container of oil and filled 'er up to
the upper mark on the dipstick. Found out in short order that I shoulda'
measured.....what a mess!

When changing the gear oil in the tranny and final drive, is it absolutely necessary to measure the oil for each, or follow the book and fill until it reaches the level plug. I just did the latter, but hear conflicting info about both. Have I screwed up by not measuring exactly? Cam in NJ '74 Eldo Police |
