Sorry for the 1st blank message, had the 8 week old in my arms and hit
the wrong key. Went for a 1st ride with Cam yesterday after work, we
have waited nearly 1.5 years for this 1st cruise! Was pretty cool
cruising together on near identical bikes. My wife calls us "Chips"
Poncho & John as we look like cops on our 71 Police Ambo/74 Police Eldo.
Passed inspection yesterday, though the guy was more interested in the
bike than the inspection - good for me as the horn stopped working again
and he didn't even check it! Gotta re-check that good 'ol CEV switch
box! The ride was great, the Ambo ran well, though as she warmed up,
the idle dropped way down and she wanted to stall at stop signs. Had my
mechanic buddy re-adjust the carbs and timing, and all was well again,
but after the ride, idle was way down again. Guess that is inherent
with these bikes? Cam said he has the same problem on occasion. The
old gooses really started "oozing character" though, another wet spot
formed way in the back above and behind the shift linkage, have no idea
where it's coming from, but I did notice there is some sort of
switch/sensor on the side of the case case right behind where the clutch
cable attaches to the arm (near the battery tray). Don't know why oil
should be here, this spot is high up on the tranny case, I think? On
the subject of oil, I am going to change it today. The oil that is in
there now was new about a year ago before it sat at the shop, it now is
a watery consistency and looks black, don't know why its so watery in
consistency and so black already, any ideas?
Well, gotta run and tend to the 4 year old & 2 year old, wife is off for
a 7am walk with her friends, a little trade for some riding time later!
Come on rain, keep away today!
