Rich,
I had the same symptom on my '72 Eldo where at a stop, the rpms would
drop and sometimes stall the engine. Then my clutch started to act up
to where the bike wanted to creep forward when supposedly stopped with
the clutch all the way in. It turns that my 2 mm clutch input hub was
not allowing the clutch discs to fully disengage; there were notches in
the hub beat into it by the clutch discs (and the non-cush rear drive).
Over the winter, I replaced the 2 mm hub and clutch plates with the
newer style 4 mm units. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet.

I asked this question before but it was buried in another message and I'm guessing that's why no one responded. In neutral, when I pull in the clutch the engine speed drops. Any ideas on what could be causing this? I can't see any way that the clutch cable could be affecting the throttle cable. I can get around this by bumping up the idle but this just seems bass-ackwards. Rich A |
