I haven't seen a spec for those fasteners, but aren't they 6 mm? For
6mm screws and nuts, I think the default is 0.8-1.2 kgm (4.5-8 ft/lbs),
but you should double check this to verify.
I was going to be a wiseass and say do what you did and then go back 1/4
turn but I won't.
A few days ago I innocently asked about CEV electrical stuff. Curiously
I have a '72 MGB and so I also deal with the Lucas "Prince of Darkness"
electronics. Fact is I haven't really had any problems to speak of with
the electrical system of the MGB that weren't directly related to shoddy
work done by the DPO.
My theory (actually this was passed on to me by a friend) is that Lucas
electronics, and now I would say CEV, too, are just fine _as long as
they don't get wet._
My guess is that the numbers of failures y'all have experienced are
directly related to where you live and how you ride, i.e., wetness
brings out the worst in both the Lucas and CEV connections.
