i've just popped out to the garage for a look. i've found a bag of O rings
which I THINK are the ones i have successfully used in the past. i have put
a note in the bag marked 009 which is a standard O ring size in the UK. they
cost pennies from bearing shops.
i tried to measure them with verniers, but being rubber, are sods to measure
accurately. they are a little over 5mm ID & are 0.6mm thick. they will be a
good fit internally & externally when fitted to gearbox.

I've just finished putting them in my '69 and have used them in my '71, they work pretty well. They're apparently an odd size, are considered an upgrade, and come with instructions. If you insist on using the cone seal, they point towards the engine. Install from the throwout bearing side. John Prusnek
