Alex,
Clean 'em with Formula 409 and HOT water, followed by Eagle One Formula
B mag wheel cleaner. Rinse thoroughly! Seal the cases with Sodium
Silicate gel, thinned to a near water-like viscosity. Drive off the
water from the silicate using a heat gun. Rub any excess silicate off
with a medium bristle brush (toothbrush) and/or a cloth.

I am doing a rebuild of my '74 LAPD (3rd time in 28 years) and I'm looking at cleaning the crank and trans case. I remember somewhere (sometime) someone posted a resource for cleaning and sealing cases (external). It wasn't blasting or dipping.. it was some other chemical application. I seem to recall something about baking. And I understand that the memory is the 2nd thing to go... Does anyone remember where I might find this info? Thanks a heap HDot 73 V7 Sport (basket) 74 LAPD (basketing) 78 LeMans a funky little Puegot moped... |
