Tim,
You may not need any spacers between the windshield vertical pieces
and the mounts. When I fitted mine, it had about and inch of clearance
between these 2 parts, and the windshield had to be bent (or curved
more) until the bolts could pull the windshield pieces in so that each
vertical piece was against the mount on each side. Unless your shield is
quite different, it shouldn't need "offsets".

Thanks for the advice. I do have the two vertical pieces on the back of
the
windshield, and they line up with the holes on the brackets on the side
of
the forks. This is my problem. They line up without the offsets that
came
with the mounting brackets, but I was told the offsets were mandatory
for my
style windshield, so I am confused.

Tim,
The windshield should have 2 vertical metal pieces which end up on
both sides of the headlamp when the windshield is mounted. Each vertical
piece should have holes in it which line up with holes in the mounting
brackets on either fork leg, to which they are bolted. The windshield
has to be curved somewhat for the vertical pieces to make contact with
the mounts. It sounds to me like your windshield might not have these 2
vertical pieces since you do not describe them.
Hope this helps,
Brian

I am trying to mount what I believe is a National Cycle windshield,
however, it has no markings. This is the common style with clear top
and colored bottom, two piece with chrome pieces on the lower and
horizontally between the two halves.

I bought the mounting brackets that mount under the fork nut on top, and
at the pinch bolts behind the forks lower down. Three holes, two at the
top, and one further down by the pinch bolts. The brackets also came
with offsets that are supposed to allow me to mount the National Cycle
style windshield. I think they are mandatory to use with this type of
windshield.

I can't figure out how they are to be used. I have tried them offset
up, down, several ways, and even have mounted the windshield without
them, and I can mount it each way. I have never had a windshield
before, so I am clueless. Any ideas...?

Now for the clincher....I also purchased the reproduction mounts for the
spot lights, and can't get those to line up with the brackets for the
windshield, although I was told they were to be mounted in the free hole
at the bottom of the windshield brackets.

Thanks,
Tim
