Very Interesting.... Thanks for answering your own
question and sharing it with the list. Sure makes you
wonder about those holes. It seems obvious that it
would be better to have them than not. Apparently,
however, I guess they don't really need them -
Loopframe Guzzis being so incredibly overbuilt in so
many ways. Thanks again.

Well I checked the Guzzilogy and it said some bikes
have these holes in the
rods and some do not. From what I have heard about
Guzzi in the mid 70's
they probably did not drill the holes to save on
buying drill bits.

I am putting new rod bearings in my eldo and have
hit a snag. All of my
manuals (haynes, chilton, factory) show a oil hole
near the bottom of the
rod which feeds oil to the rod bearing. The hole is
drilled at a angle
through the rod and matches up with the hole in the
bearing. My rods do
not have these holes. I have looked at them closely
and they are not
there. I have a old ambo rod, which has the holes.
My eldo is a 74 model,
which has had a big bore kit installed by someone.
Does anyone know why
these rods are missing the holes ?
