Fred, there is a little tiny hole in the threaded portion of the bottom tube
holder right where the circlip is. You just take a tiny screwdriver and push
in from the outside until you see the circlip release. Then take another
screwdriver and pry the clip out once you see some daylight between the clip
and the groove it sits in. I placed my assembly in a vise to hold it steady
as you will need both hands free to put enough force to free the clip and
pry it out. Same thing to install. One thing also I learned is that it will
be easier to remove if you rotate the clip until one end is barely covering
the hole in the tube holder. This will allow you to see it release and make
it easier to remove. Not sure where to find new bushings. Call Mark at MG
Classics or Moe at Cycle Garden.

Hopefully this list will stay more technically oriented? Anyway, I am attempting to resurrect a 1973 Eldo that I got in crates a couple years back. It was a 12,000-mile bike that sat too long, chrome peeled, and then was disassembled. The PO did manage to save everything, except the reflectors, and I scrounged a set of them. I started working on the forks, to try and separate the lower sliders to have them painted or powder coated. I managaed to remove the chrome seal holder, but how do I remove the C-ring that hold the bushings in place in the slider? The tubes look perfect, but there is some small amount of play between the tubes and the bushings. Are these available new?
