If you're going with dual plugs, you'll likely want to replace your
distributor with a dual-point timer, in which case you can switch to
the Dyna at the same time. You'll then need a pair of dual-output
coils.
Why do you want dual plugs? So you can run cheaper gas? Pings on premium?
I suggest you keep it stock and figure another way of dealing with
the pinging, such as richer jetting or retarding the timing.
And yes, I've gone the dual-plug route, but not on a loop.
Maybe if I get back there next summer I'll see it at an NOC meeting?

Thanks to Dave for getting me back on the list. Usually, people get to know me before I get "bounced off". Anyway I'm signing in with a 1974 LBPD (Long Beach PD) Eldorodo (black). Bike was actioned off from the department with 33,000 miles. Still had the microphone clip on the windshield and the button on the handle bars to communicate during "hot pursute". No siren or colored lights. VIN # 62335. Original sell date is 7/3/74. Left Hermosa Beach in June '84. Rolled into St. Paul about 24 hrs later. Been here ever since. Bike never missed a lick the whole way. At 42,000 miles I dismantled the bike and started a full refurb. Am an engineer/machinist. Am able to do most work on my own. Posted a question regarding flywheel lightening and got a reply from mike leaning towards leaving it stock. Thanks Mike. I thing I will do that. However, I did see a picture of heads set up for dual plugs and think I anm going to try that. Any one have any experience in that department? I said I can do the work myself, but with only 1 set of heads, I would like someone else to make the mistakes, if you know what I mean. Also, there is a Dyna lll ignition on ebay, but I dont think that will help me if I am going w/dual plugs. Any comments on that? Thanks, Ron '74 LAPD '96 Roadking Good 'ol St. Paul |
