John, same with my V7 Special. However, I am convinced, there is a hole in the head spindle for the lock. I assume it got turned with regard to the original working position. Nope, no hole in in the head spindle at all; as Mike says, if some
of the earlier bikes didn't have fork locks perhaps some of the later
ones got fitted with the earlier spindles one way or another. The only
way you'll find out is to go in there after it; a lot of work just to
satisfy your curiosity.
