Rick:
If you got your decals from Harpers, they're probably the wrong
ones. Ask me how I know...
Anyway, If you're looking for the correct ones, I make them, you can
take a look at
http://content.communities.msn.com/Laverda/guzzidecals.msnw
Small ones go on the front and rear fender, large ones on the tank face
forward on each side.
As for the sidecover decals, I believe MG Classics, Moto Int'l and
Harpers have the correct ones. I have a limited amount of early
sidecover decals for the non louvered covers if anyone's interested. For
the toolboxes, it's simply two pinstripes, 1/4" and 1/8" about 2-1/2"
from the bottom if I remember correctly.
These are not water decals, they're printed on clear 2 mil self adhesive
vinyl sandwiched between carrier sheets, die cut close to the design.
You peel off the backing sheet, place on your nice clean surface and
burnish down with a dull flexible instrument. Peel off the front and
you're done. Since they're so thin they can be clearcoated over.

Mark: that's a good tip about doing them on the bike to keep them level.

I am trying to get my 71 Ambo back together after a paint job. I have a
couple of decal questions. It did not have any decals when I got it. I
have 5 winged Moto Guzzi decals, one slightly smaller than the others. I
can see 2 go on the tank and one on the rear fender. Does one go on the
front fender? What a bout the tool boxes? Doesn't someone on the list
have those available? I have the V750 Ambo ones for the side covers. Any
tips for applying? Thanks for any input. Rick Woods
