Years ago when I was considerably younger, I wrenched for a local Guzzi shop
(early '70's). I found that I really liked what I called the large frame
Guzzi's rather than the small frame Guzzis. This liking was mostly due to
the ease of working on them. While I rode my 700 a lot (I took a two year
"Then Came Bronson" trip on it), I only rode 750's and 850's while test
riding them 25-30 years ago.
Currently my running bike is an old '77 BMW R100/7. It's ok I guess but I
prefer the low torque and revs of my old Guzzi. It has been a long time
since my old 700 has been running (I'm working on it now) and I don't really
remember it's characteristics. Now my question....
What are the performance characteristics of 700 vs 750 vs 850 "Loop Frame"
Guzzis with fairing. Specifically I want to know how well it handles
highway speeds (say 70-75) loaded two up. I'm thinking about picking up a
750 or 850 next year and would like to have all the first-hand information I
can get.
Thanks... Jim
