Scot has moved to a new location in Oldsmar Fla, just outside Tampa. The
airport forced him out of his old place, and yes it was a mess. His new
location is nice with a large showroom. He is a dealer for go-ped, which
are selling like crazy (700 bucks for a skateboard & chainsaw motor) and a
line of 6 wheeled ATV's. He never put in any effort in his old place
because he new the bulldozers were coming. I kind of get the feeling that
MGNA really does not want to have anything to do with the old models. I
have a friend with a early 70's HD and he said that HD has a similar
attitude. The new Guzzi's are nice but they do not do anything for me,
except for the new LeMans. I will just keep my loopframes, they will do
everything a new Guzzi will do, just a little slower.

Karl,

I met Scott of Ironhorse a few years back. I'm not sure if they cleaned up
their shop or not but it was pretty rough when I was there. He may not have
fit the "image" of a dealer that MGNA wanted.

Also.....MGNA wants new dealers to take a minimun of 6 bikes plus spares. A
pretty hefty load to carry...especially when they don't offer a buy back
option. The poor dealer in Montreal is still stuck with 2000 models on his
floor. Those bikes are not going to sell above his cost and I doubt the
dealer will be ordering any new bikes or carrying the line next year.

I have to believe that dealers drop a product line because of poor sales.
I'm not sure of the sales numbers in the Atlanta area or across the US but
I
know that there aren't too many Guzzis being sold. Any wonder why outfits
like Zen have dropped the Guzzi line and are now focusing on HD's.

I agree with you Karl....the more dealers out there the better.

Regards...Ian

Could be a turf war. The classic bike shop here in Tampa (Ironhorse) who
specializes on old Brit bikes and Old Guzzi's was looking into taking on
the new Guzzi line. The plans were a go until the Guzzi dealer the next
county over found out and raised hell with Moto America. The next thing
the guy at Ironhorse new, MA would not award him the dealership. I guess
it
depends on who has the most clout. The Guzzi dealer who made such a stink
ended up going out of business anyway. We have a new one in town and he
seems to be doing ok. I know Atlanta is a big area but I am surprised
they
have or had 4 dealers. Some dealers have mileage boundary contracts with
their distributors. To bad, I figure the more Guzzi dealers the better.
