I was thinking that the next time I pull the motor/tranny, I would get some
of those shower curtain rod covers, and slip them over the frame to protect
it.

I agree, pulling the eng/tranny from the frame was EASY , I've done it on
both loop and tonti frame bikes and don't consider myself any kind of
mechanical expert. You can then make everything sparkling clean too.
