Andy,
You should check that you have a spark at the left cylinder. Remove
the plug, put the cap back on, and hold (or clamp) the plug so that it
makes an electrical contact with the engine, and then crank the engine.
You should see a spark at the plug. If there is no spark, your problem
is ignition related. If you get a spark, then your problem is fuel
(carb) related.
Good luck,
Brian

hi guys- i have installed new cyls., pistons, & rebuilt heads on the 'ol eldo. strangely, the exhaust note from the left side is not robust [sounds really, uh, odd] & the emmissions from that side have no heat. i have swapped sparkplugs, cleaned the carb, checked the distrib., and am at my wit's end! [not all that far from where i normally reside, btw]. get this- the compression is 160 lbs [both sides- questionable guage], the pipes are hot, but the air coming out is not warm. [?????????] ya really notice the sound differance about 1200- 2000 rpms, as far as i can tell, w/ no tach. i am STUMPED! ideas? anyone? tia, andy |
