How you have to think about this is:
850 has same bore, longer stroke, uses same rod
if using the same rod, the end of the rod will come down farther on the
downstroke, and go up farther on the up stroke due to the increased stroke,
therefore the piston pin must be closer to the top with the longer stroke,
so.... if you were to use an Eldo crank, and an Ambo piston it would hit the
head on the upstroke and that would be bad, if you were to use an Ambo crank
and an Eldo piston, your piston would never reach the top and your
compression would be real low, and that would be bad.

the bore is the same between the eldo and ambo engines, but the pistons are
different. the eldo's are flat tops and the ambo's are domed. the other
major difference is the distance from the top of the piston face to the
center of the wrist pin hole. off hand, I can not remember which is
taller. one of two things will happen if you swap them. 1 the piston will
come up and slap the head or 2, you will have something like 6 to 1
compression ratio. I was going to try this route with my ambo.
