Vince,
I obtained a threaded/hose barb fitting from a friend of mine, tapped
the plug, and screwed in the fitting. I used a small (2oz) model
airplane tank at the top end (up in the frame channel) to act as an
expansion tank. A piece of 1/8 tygon tubing connects the two. So far no
leakage, at least not from there.

I keep the oil level to the side plug and am careful not to over fill. I have gotten into the habit of keeping a small rag over the vent plug to keep the oil from running down the case.
