Hi Vince,

Later bikes have a hose connected to the transmission breather that is
about 14-18 inches long and simply routed up and tied to the frame. This
prevents the oil from escaping. You could either get the later part from
the dealer or drill and tap yours for a nipple of some type. You might even
braze one on if you like to gas weld!
By the way, this particular plug is retaining the detent pawl and spring
that hold the shift drum in whatever gear you've chosen. The shift drum has
a notch for each gear as well as neutral.

I hope all the expert loopers out there will be able to give me some
advice. My 73 Eldo runs weel, but since I bought it 5 years ago it
always squirts some tranny oil out of the vent plug on the top of the
transmission case. I have taken it apart on a few occasions and cleaned
it out. The little piston in there and the spring seem to be ok and not
be stuck or binding. I keep the oil level to the side plug and am
careful not to over fill. I have gotten into the habit of keeping a
small rag over the vent plug to keep the oil from running down the case.
Any ideas how I can stop this vent leak?
Thanks guys,

BTW - It ran like a charm out to Orient Point last weekend and going the
other way I saw another looper. Was it anyone on this list???
