On mine I have this 1000 mile solo seat from a BMW cop bike (and boy was he pissed to find his seat missing!) It's basically a leather covered tractor
seat. No padding, but butt-shaped so well, that you don't notice. I'm 6'5"
and I mounted it on springs and a 3" front bracket. Awkward as hell for short folk. But then I don't care about short folk. It's my damn bike.
If you can find one of those 1000 mile bmw seats, snag it.
| Yeh, If I had scenery like that, I'd be getting wet also.
Naw, When I was restoring the bike, I wanted to go with the solo. My |
pal
| got the solid mount from Harpers w/ the rack, ect.. I rode with that seat for a season before the restoration. It was a good seat but not for me. Being 6'4" I needed more leg room. Rick from MG sent me a sprung solo |
(lapd
| repop), but said he was a tall guy also and I might not like that one either. I got the seat and it just didn't seem wroth the money. I wanted something metal framed & durable. Moto Guzzi wasn't going to give it to |
me.
| I looked for an old leather tractor seat to adapt. no luck. Stopped by a local Triumph dealer. Small shop, not a big dealership. Paul(owner) used to sell Urals and happened to have a ural driver solo |
and
| the buddy solo. I walked out with both. Couldn't use the buddy solo(which |
| is really cool), but I was able to mount the regular one, through a little engineering. Couldn't be happier with the setup, since I was setting up the seat |
from
| scratch. I was able to set it where it was comfortable to me and my long legs. Plus it has a really high seat height, looks cool, rides cool( |
almost
| like something from the 40's) But the seat sets up above the frame rails. So gotta figure something out.... You'll be able to see it when I finally get the photo's to dave.

Well, truth is it was my own fault for not making it. I was close to home and decided it might be neat to go to this scenic overlook and see the whitecaps on the river. Without the detour, I would probably have rolled ito the garage just |
before
| the rain, but shoot, it was fun all the way.!! Just wondering about your seat. Dont the tops of the side covers cover the reg???

Allmost made it, huh? I need to work something out with the rain. My |
seat
| does not cover the regulator like moto guzzi seats do. I haven't been totally soaked yet, but it's just a matter of time.
